  1. You can be 100 and start Martial Arts

  2. No way are you too old to start, however a word of caution. Stear clear of any schools where you can get your Black belt within two years. This is a belt factory and you will be lucky to learn anything useful, although they will make you feel you can take on anyone. Two years at a good school should maybe put you into a Blue belt, if you have worked hard.

I am not going to recomend any style over another, because I do not know you and I do not know what is availible near you. Rather then style I am going to advise you to pick the instructor and school carefully.

There are many good answers on here about what to look for in an instructor and school, and what to avoid. Just use the search feature. Once you know what to look for and what questions to ask, visit all of the schools in your area and watch a few classes at each. Some will even offer free trials, so take advantage of that. base your decision on the most knowledgible instructor and the school that trains most realisticly, rather then on style. I am sorry to say if you can't do this research and legwork, you are probably not going to have the drive to train anyway.

    Good luck!

  3. As stated above your never to old to start. There have been 5 dan black belts who have started in their 30's

  4. Never too late, it's even better when you're a little older. You can absorb more without having your mind wander off.

  5. age doesnt matter .

  6. No!  Definately not to old to start.  It depends on what form of martial arts you want to learn.  Some are a litlle more difficult to learn and some take a certain amount of flexibility but all of that can be taught very quickly as long as you really want to learn.  Most reason people don't stick with and learn any type of martial arts is simply lack of dedication.

  7. no way that rocks :D i started when i was 12 [with my best friend] and was a blackbelt by the time i was 14 or 15.. you're heaps young you'll advance in no time!

  8. No, you are young and your parts will heal easily and quickly.  If you were back in my country your pre-army have started at 14 and  would just be beginning your military service, and should your ability warrant it you would be sent of to a very intensive hand to hand combat school.

You are young, enjoy this unbreakable, fast healing part of your life and just do it.  figure out what you and your friend want and go for it.  You have sport arts and combat arts, hceck out a few places, see what fits, what you enjoy.

    Good luck.

  9. Never to old to start. I know people who started martial arts in their 30s and after a lot of practice earned their master rank in about 10-20 yrs.
