  1. G'day

NZ is one of the few countries that really do have 4 seasons.  Personally I think the south Island is better - beautiful landscape vast mountain chains, steaming volcanoes, sweeping coasts, golden beaches, alpine peaks, glaciers, rain forests and grassy plains.!

I lived in Nelson at the top of the South Island.  Nelson city is the 10th most populous city and geographical centre of New Zealand. Nelson and Tasman Region has a resident population of 92,300 (2006 census)

Annual Rainfall: 985mm, Average Sunshine Hours: 2392hrs

Max Temperature January 22.3º  Min 13º Extreme Max 36.13º

Max temperature July 12.2º  Min 1.5º Extreme Min -6.6º

Main website for Nelson is http://nelsonnz.com

On one side of Nelson you have Abel Tasman http://www.abeltasman.co.nz  and Golden Bay, http://www.goldenbay.net.nz/en/guide.htm... and the other side Marlborough.http://www.destination.co.nz/marlborough - everything is not far away if wanting a change of scenery.

Close to everything, beaches, the countryside, ski fields, wineries, hiking tracks  etc….  again my opinion, less crime in South Island also.  Nelson is probably the safest place with ……  Next choice would be Christchurch.

  2. Check with the New Zealand Immigration Service at the link below.

In a recent survey NZ was rated as the second safest country in the world to live.

  3. If you have qualifications/a trade which NZ can use, you shouldn't have too many problems in being accepted.  If you can get fixed up with an offer of a job to go to before you apply, so much the better.

Rates of pay are lower, but living is cheaper, so it balances out.

Recommending an area is more difficult - the bulk (I think it is one quarter) of the population living in or around Auckland.

New Zealand is such a long Country - two islands which are totally different - the very bottom of South Island gets pretty cold since it is so close to Antarctica, the very top of North Island, above Kaeo, is pretty balmy.

In South Island, Queenstown is very expensive - it's one of  New Zealand's main holiday resorts and prices reflect this.

There are some nice little Towns about an hour's drive north of Auckland.

Houses mostly timber-framed and living areas completely open-plan which is nice - the cook isn't shut away.

All in all, a fabulous place.  I've spent 3 long holidays - a couple of months at a time in NZ - great place for kids - lots of outdoors - 1 in every 3 New Zealanders owns a boat.

  4. Apply to the government and see what happens

  5. You want to emmigrate to New Zealand? I think you mean immigrate. Emmigrating is leaving the country.

    Kbear has some worthwhile links.

  6. just turn up skint with a shed full of kids and you will get a council house a grant of up to 5000k for a  car , furniture living allowance on average 50 quid per day  and even some money if you go and get a dog for the kids and then do nowt but moan about how bad it is here and you are being persecuted and you want the local school to stop celebrating Christmas's   oops sorry that's the UK .

to get in there you need a required skill ,cash ,and no criminal record , that's why there all coming here .
