  1. Can you please give us a few more details?

  2. Depending on his offense you might not get told until he has been at that certain jail for like a month or something.  I know someone who was arrested for drug trafficking and his family was not told what jail he would be going to until he had been there for a few weeks.  This is in North Carolina maybe the rules are different in your state.  :/  Check with the station that aressted him.  They should tell you or at least be able to tell you when you will know.

  3. The local police agency probably won't know. You need to contact the court that he was sentenced in. In Ohio, they usually go to a reception center first. After they are processed and classified, they are then sent to the appropriate prison. Sometimes they stay at the reception center. That part is up to the prison. But in any case, the court should be aware of where he is.

  4. Hello Chyna. When a person is incarcerated, the information is available on a state wide data base in the prison system.

Although you were given a link to try, you can also call any prison in your state and ask for records or visitation ( they both have access to the same data base on the computer).

Identify your brother ( you may need his date of birth or social if his name is relatively common). They can give you his inmate number, what prison he is currently incarcerated at and the mailing address to contact ( write ) him.

This is all considered public knowledge is available to anyone that calls.

I hope this helps and you can find it useful
