Question:

Want to go (back) to windows media player 10

I downloaded some video clips when I still had WMP 10 and they ran smooth as silk. Then I "upgraded" to WMP11 and the clips would play a little, then stop then resume. I want to get back WMP10 and went into my control panel and tried to delete WMP11 and there were two WMP11 items on there and clicked to remove. It said after clicking it was (done) and then I tried to delete Windows Media format and messages came up "setup cannot continue".

Basically, how can I get WMP10 back - but I can't delete WMP11 to do this. AND THEY SAY "NEWER IS BETTER". Not in this case. Please help.

  1. you should be able to go to the microsoft.com download center and just type in "Window media player 10" but what your experiencing with WMP11 is that its buffering for a cleaner view.

  2. Ensure that WMP is not running in the background processes. Just press ctrl-alt-del and go to processes and end any WMP-named processes. Then go to the control panel and "add/remove programs." From there, delete it. If you cannot, go to C:/Program Files/Windows Media Player    and delete/remove as much of those files as you can. Then download WMP10 and install it.
