The murder mystery in a box games are really fun.  You would have to do some fudging for 12 people, but you might be able to find some online.

If you COULD get one of the Murder Mystery games, they have the invitations, menus, game plan in them ... plus there's a description of each character that you enclose in the invitation (so that person knows how to act & dress).  The games are less than $25; and you should be able to find one for half that price on eBay ......If you make it a potluck dinner, then you'd have some extra money to spend to get the game:)
