There will probably be around 9 adults and 6 kids. I have never done this before, and thought that it would be fun to do. I was thinking of doing this at a nearby park. Thanks for any advice.

  1. tee ball, easy obstacle course, tag, pin the tail on, pinata, craft projects, outdoor chalk, have kids help cook/make cupcakes

food: hot dogs, mini burgers, small carrots, pb & j's, mini pizza, cupcakes, fresh fruit in small bites

  2. If the park has a playground, that will keep the kids occupied for a while.  You should also bring coloring books, paper and crayons with you or sidewalk chalk if there will be concrete near by they can draw on.  This way if they need a quiet/restful activity, you have one.  You could also bring a deck of Old Maid Cards.

Other suggestions for things to bring:  a kickball, wiffle ball and bat , jump rope, bubbles with a giant bubble wand (click here to see some ideas:  http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_t/104-...  )

If the kids get bored or restless you can suggest they play the following games:

    -duck, duck, goose

    -hopscotch

    -mother may I

    -red light green light

    -freeze tag

    -hide and go seek

    Suggestions for food:

-make different small sandwiches:  peanut butter and jelly, turkey and cheese etc......... For the adults you may want to have fancier sandwiches.

-pasta salad or a mixed green salad

-cut up veggies (carrots, red peppers, grape tomatoes and cucumbers)

-have hummus to dip the veggies in (or a ranch dip)

    -pretzels

-fruit- either a fruit salad or some whole fruit

    -cookies or brownies

    -lots of water and juice

Don't forget to have lots of napkins, paper plates, utensils (plastic cups if you need them) and a blanket to sit on.  If you also brought wipes so the kids could clean their hands before they ate, you would look like a great planner.  If you threw in sun screen, bug spray and a few band aides, for just in case, you would look like a superstar.

A play date picnic at the park is a great idea.  Have a great time!

  3. It's funny, when I was 5-6 years old I didn't need my mother to set up my play activities. My friends would come over and we would play, if we got hungry we would raid the cookie jar. Mom didn't have to worry about anything.

  4. Just worry about the food as 5-6 year old children will play without you asking them too and its hard to ask them to follow rulez

you can make sandwich, omelet, ham, and other food that your children like that is suitable for this occasion
