Congress is on track to cut poverty-fighting funding in the 2009 budget, putting the lives of millions of people who depend on our help at risk.

ONE members around the country are sending a petition to the Senate asking that they restore that funding and uphold our promise to the world's poorest people.

You can sign the petition here: http://www.one.org/2009budget

Thanks for taking action with me.

  1. I'll check into it - thanks for the heads up.

It is one of the consequences of war.  Not only are we exhausting our own resources and crippling our ability to have a strong economy to draw from, but now we will have a nation full of people who are too fearful to give a helping hand to those around the world who face desperate circumstances that we will never have to deal with.

Time to break the cycle of endless fear and turmoil.

  2. I don't think so.  I would prefer that we help our own before we start helping others world wide.  Once we fix our problems, then we can move on.

  3. Bush has us all paying for the war now, would you not say?

  4. thanks keep up the good work Yes ...we can .

  5. As affluent as our country is, we can and should help those who are in need, even if they are not from our country.  For some reason, we are made aware of their plight.  So doesn't that mean we should help others instead of ignoring the situation?  How many people actually help those near them?  If everyone that could afford it helped out those in their own family, and their friends through extension, we wouldn't really have much of a problem here in America.

I try to help those around me, family first, even though I am considered poverty level as far as taxes go.  I signed.
