Well I've went through the process of joining the military. I go to MEP's soon. I'm delayed in my puberty process. I mean I'm 5'11, 145 I've got armpit and pubic hair I'm just delayed a bit not being like a normal 18 year old should. I'm not embarrassed really because I am who I am and there is nothing I can do to change it. I just really want to know if I should go through with this or wait, I mean I want to join the military but it's just holding me back from being excited about it. Can they reject me for having delayed puberty? What should I do?

  1. No reason not to dude. If you can pass the physical tests and it's what you want to do then you are set.

Do be sure to tell the physician when you go in for your physical though.

  2. Delayed puberty will not affect your military service one bit. If any thing you will not have to shave your face every day, which most people would say is an advantage! If the doctor at MEPs said you were fit for duty, and you want to serve, than there is nothing stopping you. On the other hand if you sign up, and then don't report to start basic training, they may not let you try again later because you would be what they call a "flight risk" meaning that you may not stick around after you get your enlistment bonus and the government would be out the money, and would have to find another recruit to fill you place.

I'd say go for it, and good luck.

  3. If you've passed the physical tests, then don't worry about it.

  4. Don't let that stop you from what you want to do, just be honest with the docs. As long as you pass the physical requirements, you are good to go. Things will work out.

  5. You may actually be better off.

  6. It is your age not your pubic hair! I would not worry about it!
