Want to know for a particular sales/service can we charge Service Tax and Vat both.?

I am aware no double tax to be charged for the particular sales/service. But in hotel industry for banquet, they are charging 12.36% service Tax and 12.50% VAT for the whole amount. pl. clarify.

  1. They can not charge both.

    VAT is on goods sales while service tax is on service provide.
