Hi Im in Germany 5 years with the US military and say the cost of living is higher and the germans pay bigger taxes. ADAC will get you guides on hotels and apartments are advertised in local papers! Good luck!

-you should buy food in discount-markets,like ALDI and LIDL and PENNY; there you can get food really cheap.probably 10Euro/day; but the 25Euro from the other answer is realistic

Yes, we pay a lot of taxes,because we have a social net,where everybody is catched.
