Question:

Want to learn ballet

I'm 14 (15 in November) and live in Buckinghamshire

I've got no ballet experience but some dance and gymnastics experience

I know it's like the summer holidays, but i really want to start ballet as soon as possible as i know i'm quite old to start, and think all the free time i have will be perfect for practising and improving as quickly as possible :D

What should i do

Does anyone know any local ballet classes i can do during the summer (private or groups), or even workshops? (Remember I live in Bucks :))

Or do you think i should get a ballet DVD and try doing it myself

Thank you so much for any help, hope i've made sense!

  1. i took my 1st ballet class when i was 17 and i absolutely loved it.

it was difficult because i didn't know all the positions like the other girls did, so i reccomend getting a book or a video and learning the basic positions (1st, 2nd, 4th, some arabesques, etc.,) and studying them before you go into your class. Also, stretch as much as you can because flexibility is extremely important in ballet.

good luck & have fun! it's difficult but it's rewarding.

  2. heey =) if you're thinking about joining a class, i'd def do some research first. or meet some girls even . that way you'll know about what you're doing before you try it. it'll make you feel ah-lot better. or even a beginners class. learn the positions and basic moves (1st - 5th arms and feet, plies, releves, tendus, etc)
