Want to learn how to surf.. any tips?????

i am new to san clemente and want to learn how to surf and every surfing lesson info that i ahev found is for kids..... any tips would be helpfull... and any links would be too.. once i learn i will be looking for a buddy to go with too...

Get on a board and spend a few hours a day in the water for a few months and get the feel for what is going on out there then if you still think you need some lessons go get some.  Surfing for me was a journey inward that I needed to figure out for myself.  Dont let your ego get in your way because you are on the level with kids in the water.  Its not you against them its you vs. you.  Go surf or just lay on your board and bob up and down.

Adult classes are available too: work on your upper body strength before your lesson if you think you need it: the motion of lying to standing is a quick pushup.
