Okay heres my dilema. I want to learn visual basic but from what i have heard the software to create programs in it DOES NOT work on 64-bit vista. Does anyone know another way i can still learn visual basic (like another type of softwhere to create it in), or a way to make it work in 64 bit?

  1. "i don't think it does because when i tried installing it it said there was a compatibility issue...."

Yes it will tell you that but don't worry about it...MS just doesn't want you to use VB6, they want you to migrate to VB2008.

I run and make exe files on Vista with VB6.

Just type in "VB6 tutorials" or "visual basic 6 tutorials" in your search bar and you will find heaps of places to learn...

  2. Follow this URL. This is a great visual basic tutorial that is intended to make you learn visual basic in your own.

  3. visual basic 6 work with VISTA

click here to learn visual basic 6:

  4. Have you tried MS's Express Editions.  As far as I know there are no OS limitations, though the Express (free) edition might not let you take full advantage of a 64 bit system, it should still compile and work (I tried looking for system requirements, but I think that would require downloading it).

If that's the one you heard about, I'd still give it a try and see for yourself if it works.  Personally, I wouldn't bother with VB6 and go straight to VB.NET, it's the way of the future(?).
