Want to level the dirt on a basement floor so that concrete can be poured.?

I have dug out my basement floor a foot and a half. Now i need so ideas on how to level the dirt with a tilt for drainage (if i even need it) so that the concrete can be poured level. The edges are dirt do i nee to build a retaining wall to hold the wall in

  1. Visit book store or library and read up on pouring concrete slab.  Then, add about 12 inch of drain rock or other, then, a layer of 10 mil plastic, then an inch of sand, then rebar (wire screen or other).  From here on you should get some pros to take over the actual pour.  If you need a low spot to drain outside; it goes in before the pour.  Read more than you think you need.  


  2. you should be able to measure down from the floor above and get it close enough...i used a transit and grade stakes...i didnt put a floor drain in but i formed around the wall with 2x4 's and when i stripped them this left a trough for any water that may come through my stone wall...in your case you may need to form a curb along the edge to catch your first course of stone  

  3. most  folks make wooden concrete  forms to define the shape , height, and slope of the concrete pad that is poured .

    I recommend that you go to the local library and read as much as you need before trying to complete this project.
