Want to move.....?

Question

to Ireland(Galway area).I have never been myself so I don't know really what it is like. I have lots of family over there.

I just want to know is it exspensive?

What is the wages like over there?

What is the education/schools like?

These are two completely different places. London is a bustling city, Galway is a land of green pastures and nothingness.

you can't compare galway to london.  london is a huge metrapole compared to galway.

move to ireland if you want to move out of the rat race.  things are more laid back.  it's expensive - when the euro was brought in there was a price hike - but if your moving from UK it's ok cause of gbp/eur conversion

You really can't compare Galway to London.

If you have work, the prices are affordable but higher than in the UK, booze and cigarettes are prohibitively expensive,  wages are depending on your line of work, minimum wage is Euro7.35 per hour, average industrial wage about twice that.

The schools are good enough, we have less people leaving without being able to read or write than the UK or the US. Secondary schools have uniforms, holidays are from June to first Monday in September.

Galway is a university town with a vibrant cultural life for such a small place, it has "millens" of lovely pubs and the people are generally very helpful and welcoming.

It is surrounded by one of the most beautiful landscapes in Ireland, very wild and romantic.

If you don't mind the much slower pace of life, and don't need to go to a museum or art gallery every day I'm sure you'll like it.

Yes. Move there. It's green and serene and you drink Guiness all day and all night and there's a pot-o-gold at the end of every rainbow and peeple dance to penny whistle bands and tell stories about the potato famine and the schools have uniforms that are cute and I would rather go there than to London because there's no Prince Charles or Camilla, so no chance of running into either of them.lol. I don't know about the wages, but I would work in a pub for free Guiness and Bushmill's and roll around in a field of clovers every night after work. And every day you get e new freckle. Each one cuter than the last.

If u are not fussed about living somewhere that is mostly quiet,and slower(much)paced,then galway and a lot of other places in eire are for u,ireland has always been quite expensive a place to live but i guess wages would be higher to cover that.schooling is probably better than most large cities because the class sizes would be smaller,more teacher-pupil time. some class sizes in london are 30-40 pupils.dublin would probably be somewhere in-between london and the remotest parts of ireland  ,a bit of both, not too quiet but not as crowded and fast as london! hope this helps.
