Been to Australia a couple of times and really desperate to move now. Got a cousin who I always stay with when I visit and could stay with her and her husband until I'm settled, only problem is................I'm not on the skilled migration list :-(

Anyone got any ideas what would be the quickest way to get eg a course that qualifies me?

  1. You are right, the quickest way is to complete a course or apprenticeship  in one of the skills that Australia needs - approximately 3 - 5 years.

You could also try the student route: study (for which you will pay mind you) at an Australian University in a discipline that will be acceptable for migration, then at the end of your course you can apply for (but not necessarily get) residency and you will have been in Australia for 3 years.

For all of the answers to all of your questions regarding immigrating into Australia, and much else besides, follow this link to the very informative government site:

  2. I recommend to go through the legal immigration thing which might take you about 2 or 3 years. Go and work during this time which gives you a 3 years' experience. If you're still young enough why are you in a hurry? Take it easy and plan your future life.

I can understand why you want to move to OZ. I'd like to do so too but I'm too old already which sucks - and I do have skills and if I were only 10 years younger I'd have the best chances (I tried the points test and found that out). It was frustrating for me.

  3. your looking at a few years before you can qualify,  you must be skilled and experienced in a field Australia needs
