Want to party on Friday, but might be pregnant?

I have PCOS, and I'm on my second month of Clomid (last month 50mg w/ no egg, this month 100mg w/ positive opk). OPK was positive on CD 23 am; today is CD 37. If I ovulated at the most 36 hours after OPK showed positive, egg would've dropped CD 24 midday or before. So, theoretically, menses would start at the most following CD 38.

A close friend of mine is getting married tomorrow, CD 38, and I want to be able to party it up if I'm not pregnant. I'm planning on POAS tomorrow am. If it's negative, I'm considering drinking at the reception. If it's positive, then obviously not.

My RE told me not to worry about drinking until I thought I was pregnant. Since I'm right on the borderline, I was hoping for some input.

Thanks!

  1. I've heard lots of different opinions on this. I know that the first trimester is the most critical but if you're not pregnant and you don't drink you'll be disappointed. If you MIGHT be pregnant and you do drink I don't think it will affect the baby yet (I've heard you don't exchange blood until 6 weeks). I would go for it. Just don't get WASTED because that's not good for you anyway. Drink in moderation and everything will be fine. GL!!!

  2. Your RE knows what they're talking about. Most people say anything that happens before a BFP is alright. My friend held off testing because she had two parties she wanted to go to -- her baby is fine! It all depends on how you feel; if you'd had a few miscarriages in the past I would say don't risk it. But personally, I'd have a glass of wine with dinner at the wedding and enjoy yourself. Don't go doing shots and end up under the table, though :)
