Want to reinstall windows Xp on compaq presario v...

Question

i have a compaq presario v3000 with windows xp professional edition installed. I want to remove this windows and install it again as the current os is unstable. I am aware of how to install Xp on a comp w/o an os. But dont know how to format it.Pls help
