If you ae just staying for two weeks stay in a hotel.Mumbai is not as safe as it used to be.For me security is a big concern when I travel.So play it safe.

In Bandra West there are some hotels.it is a nice area and also close to all the shopping you enquired about earlier.Many movie stars live there.An area of Bandra West by the ocean is called Bandstand,there are two hotels there,Sea Rock Hotel and a Hilton.If you are going shopping for diamonds and clothes you are close to all shopping in this town and relatively safe.

Angelgui is right, nobody will rent apartment for few days and hotels are safe also you can find hostel they are good and very cheap. or you can also find apartments in pune and travel every day to Mumbai. Osho area is good everybody rent apartments there.
