my driveway is crumbling and needs to be replaced. are there any pros/cons to already having a brick driveway? i would imagine you just have to remove the old pavers, re-level the ground with sand, and put it in new pavers. on the other hand, theres the issue of having 10 tons of old bricks i dont need. should i rent a dumpster? any other advice? thanks

  1. Cover the old brick with a half inch of sand and concrete over it. No left over brick no expensive new brick and if you like the brick look then stamp the concrete with a brick pattern and no more worries about brick coming loose.

  2. I don't know if this is possible but can you re-use the old pavers? Remove all of the pavers and level off the base and use the old pavers up side down.  The side that was down should be like brand new.  You may have to buy some replacements, but it sure will be cheaper than buying new, and paying for haul away.

  3. if you want to replace the old one, then take them up level the ground, tamp it down well, place in new pavers and fill the joints with a new polysand product to keep weeds from growing up and water from getting into cracks and damaging new pavers.  then seal all of the pavers with high durable sealer that you can purchase at a stone or paving place.  toss the broken ones, or use them in french stlye drains in area's where you need better drainage, or maybe you have a neighbor that needs broken bricks for this, then set the old bricks that are in good shape on the curb, i promise you someone will pick them up, i know i do.  good luck

  4. If you are replaceing the pavers, remove the old ones, get some old pallets and try selling them.  The ones that are broken and crumbled throw out.  Call around to a few massonry companys around town and they should be able to help you get rid of them.  Good luck on your project.
