  1. I recommend you use paypal, its much secure and safer. Don't try and use debit cards and credits online, people can see your credit card number and details etc... Paypal you cannot see your credit card number on display after when you have typed it out. You can also see how much money you got left after spending or selling stuff on ebay.

  2. You pretty much need a paypal account or debit/credit card cause e-bay charges to sell on their site.

  3. You would have to set up a direct debit payment via youre bank account x

  4. For your fees, you may pay using credit card or send check to eBay. Check out this link:  http://pages.ebay.com/help/account/payfe...

For your buyers, you may accept other payment methods just as long as you have at least 1 safe payment method. Here's where you'll see what's accepted and not:  http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/acce...

  5. Ebay: you can pay them by direct debit.

Your buyers: you can accept any form of payment from them, from checks to postal orders to bank transfers.

  6. try a credit card or link your ebay to a bank account to take payment.  Best to go back to cheques for small items or items that people don't mind waiting for (you'd save loads)

  7. The simple answer is that to sell on eBay, you have to have a PayPal account because all sellers now have to offer PayPal on their listings.

Your eBay selling fees can be paid by direct debit or can be charged to your debit ot credit card, but you still have to have a PayPal account so that your buyers can pay you that way if they want.

Lots of sellers don't like that, but it's the rules.

You mention '25p' in your question, so I take it that you're from the UK, in which case, this applies:

**eBay requires all sellers listing on eBay.co.uk to offer payments through PayPal **(except Motors and Property)

  8. Your Answer:

If I were you I would get down to which account this is and reinstate it, otherwise use another bank account if you have one. Otherwise there is no obligation to use paypal. there are loads of other similar companies like nochex and loads of others (they'll probably be listed on ebay as well). Of course PP is the prefered choice of ebay as it is one of its own, likewise ebay users will prefer PP for this reason and that it is quite successful and safe.

You can ask for checks/postal orders, BACS and other methods of payment, but this will reflect on trust as well. PPL will be ok using other payment options if you can be trusted (shown by your feedback scores) but not to say it has a total reflection. you could be selling an item for 50p and no one is going to worry about trusting you with their 50p while you send their product. see where I'm going?

be careful for cash in hand. I usually only use this if it is a relatively small amount and the product needs to be collected. Like I had a bench and weights or I had a desk which was to big and heavy so the guy came round and payed me the £30 (although come to think of it, the item actually sold for 31!)

get selling some of your least expensive items and build up some good feedback and then start with other items. in this time you will have either sorted this account issue with PP (which I suggest is top priority as it is your bank account) or you will have found another way to accept payments which buyers are comfortable using.

BTW Check the fees page I am nearly absolutely sure there is no extra charge for accepting alternative payment. do your homework and read the how to sell page on ebay.

I would though pursue PP as it is the most popular, I remember when I started, no matter how good the deal was I wouldn't go along with it unless it was with PP (for large amounts of course).

    Good luck and happy ebaying.

(you may have noticed a answer crossed over from another similar Q you asked bcz yahoo would not let me post so I copied and pasted it to this Q :-)
