  1. Just start if you can.  Start as small as possible and build things up. Also start to look into business planning.  I would advise getting a book and working through it chapter by chapter to make sure you understand the concepts...As you go along you will get meaningful data from the work/sales that you get so that it won't all be a fantasy (its very easy to create a fantasy that evaporates the first time anyone with any business knowledge/experience looks at it or indeed as soon as you try it in 'real life'!!).  Its easy for people to scoff and be negative but if you really put in the effort you could prove them wrong.  The key thing is the business plan...asking and answering the hard questions...I once looked seriously at a small manufacturing operation that was for sale...all looked good except for a slight decline in sales in recent years....turned out to be due to a German competitor moving in on the UK market!!!  So I declined.. Hope that helps.

if you have a passion for starting up a business then go and do it, prove them wrong and then when your a successful business chick you'll be the one laughing (all the way to the bank lol)

  3. I agree with a few of the others...make sure you do your research. You can check my company. We've been featured on NBC News and we have been in INC 500 for the last 3 years.

I would suggest you go to my website and take a look at the video presentation on there. I work in the VOIP industry and i've been very successful. Especially, because we are international.

VoIP (voice over IP) is an IP telephony term for a set of facilities used to manage the delivery of voice information over the Internet.VoIP involves sending voice information in digital form in discrete packets rather than by using the traditional circuit-committed protocols of the public switched telephone network (PSTN). A major advantage of VoIP and Internet telephony is that it avoids the tolls charged by ordinary telephone service.

Go to my website and check out the video. If you have any questions, you can click on my picture under "contact" and you can email me.

  4. if you have a good viable business idea, then seriously think about it - both the positives (your own business, hours, control etc) and the negatives (will take up your time and money...)

make sure you research everything you need to know - competition, laws, paying taxes - and ask for information (eg citizens advise bureau, bank business expert) before you begin

  5. paid online surveys is one of the best home based business. You can do it with your regular job.

Give some hours to take surveys and give you honest openion and get paid.

Companies paying to take free online surveys - Earn $5 to $75 per survey

  6. I say go for it, and when you start making more money then they do, they will come crawling back at you wanting to know how you are so successful.

I too have just started a home based business and most of my friends and family aren't so supportive, but when I start making the big bucks then they will see. and I will laugh hahahaha

    Good Luck

  7. Ignore them!! If you have a great idea for a business, go for it!!

  8. Go for your dream, you have to unconditional yourself from what other people opinions are about your business ideas, why:

Some have tried and was unprepared and failed

Someone told them no before or I tried it and it failed (how?)

Some do not want you successful, fear they would lose you as a friend

Someone once said it can take up to 8 tries to make a business work.

You are not mad, but need to follow your dreams.
