  1. The old Anaheim Earthquake from Curling International (A scam for which Merv Bodnarchuck went to jail) were the first professional curling team. (paid to play)

    Just check out local clubs, most are very welcoming to new curlers.

    Also, if you are a reality show type of person, check out 'Rock Star Curling', where they're trying to have  a random team compete in the olympic trials.
