  1. Soda crystals used to be used years ago, but always use gloves as they are strong.

  2. Years ago they used washing soda and saved their soap scraps in a wire ball to make the water soapy.  I can remember this, but, believe me, dish soap is so much better.  You cannot save the world on your own!

  3. Soap roots. You can grow it in your own garden.

  4. Ecover makes the best hand washing soap and the best detergent for the dishwasher.  Ecos also makes a good dish soap that is a little cheaper but their detergent is horrible, leaves white powder residue.

  5. I really like Method's line of cleaning products. I use the cucumber melon dish soap and their liquid laundry detergent. Both rate very highly in my opinion.

  6. enviro balls.

  7. There are many choices that are so-called chemical free or non-toxic.  Any of the mild dishwashing liquids that are vegetable-based are a better choice for you and the environment long-term.

Seriously, the alternatives for cleaning grease or dirty pots and  pans is terribly time-consuming -- even requiring being left overnight.  Baking soda, salt are a few choices but will require more scrubbing and possibly more rinsing.  You lose the chemicals but waste more water.

Stick with a mild liquid for hand washing and run the dishwasher only when full.

  8. We tried the dishwasher with nothing in the other day - cleaned just as well - I was shocked !!

  9. The new range sold by the Co-operative stores in the UK work really well

  10. why would you want to do something like that, have you been sucked into this eco rubbish ? biggest con of the 21st century
