My bf and I are looking to get away after he gets off work Monday @4pm and be back in time to go to work Thursday @5am.

He was thinking a day trip through yosemite since neither have been there. But... I want to use both days, and lodging is super expensive, if you can get it.

Alternatives?

  1. Sacramento is close to everything:

    San Fransisco

    Berkeley

    Lake Tahoe

    The Sierra Nevada Mountain Range

    The Delta

  2. Try typeing in yosemite.com  there is alot of great information there.  They even have good sized tents you can sleep in(pretty reasonable) they used to provide comfortable sleeping bags, pillows and air mattresses, perhaps they still do,,,Mayneed reservations tho, give it a look.

  3. Stay completely away from Yosemite during the summer.  So crowded you can't get anywhere.  Lately there a LOT of road repair in the valley, and traffic is snarled for hours.

Exploring the Gold Country is a great idea, or heading up to Lake Tahoe is fun.

Try the coast between Mill Valley and Gualala.

  4. You know one of the best trip's I had in my life occurred in Yosemite,

We went there with no reservations and obtained a killer cabin at Curry Village.

The deal is you have to check in with them early, they will then tell you when to come back.

Get in line about an hour early.  Then pray.

My friends and I obtained a 3 bedroom Cabin, we choose to share it with a couple from Germany.  He was HOT!.

We saw a bear.  Overall it was a great weekend.  Go for it!!!!!

    Hey you asked.

  5. You could explore the Sierra foothills and find reasonable places to stay.

If you enjoy wine tasting, there are some great wineries where wine tasting is usually free located in Amador, Calaveras, El Dorado, and Nevada Counties.  For info on wine tasting in the Sierra Foothills go to http://www.cheers2wine.com/Sierra-Foothi...

You will find lots of other things to do as well.  Exploring caves, mine tours, browsing historic little towns, and more.

I recently went wine tasting in Amador County and stayed at Days Inn in Sutter Creek.  It was inexpensive and quite nice.  Here's their website:  http://www.goldcountryhotel.com/

    Have a fun getaway!
