Question:

Want to talk to this kid?

Hey guys! I really want to be friends with this kid at my school. He's nice, smart, and funny! Unfortunately, I'm really bad at approaching people and starting conversations. I need some advice.

Okay, so I barely know this kid, he's in my orchestra class and I'm pretty sure he knows I exist. He's a senior, I'm a sophmore, but he's nice (as far as I know) so he wouldn't care. At the end of orchestra he usually sits by himself since none of his friends are in orchestra. So, that's my chance to talk to him, but I never can! I always freak out! It just seems weird to go up to someone who's sitting alone and start talking to them. Anyway, any advice on how I can overcome this and what to say? Thanks guys...!

I didnt really get a good answer last time, so I'm trying again! ^^;

  1. It's not weird to go up to someone that's sitting alone.  It shows that you have some concern that he might be feeling left out.  Are you sure he's not deliberately staying away from the other people (not you in particular) cause he has no interest in joining your lot?

    You have to give me a break here, I don't know how your system works over there in terms of  college (?) snobbery and association practices.

    Either way, if you can summon the courage, go talk to him about the music for example (it's the most obvious place to start) or anything to get the ball rolling and see where it goes.  I hope it goes well for you - I love a happy ending!  I can't help it, I just do!

  2. well im thinking you could kick a ball over near him and then ask him if he is ok then he will probly say yes i am so then you can say do u want to come play ball with me or somting
