Want to volunteer in home country OR abroad but no money for trip there or back?

Question

Title says it.

I have no money but an aching heart that needs to help others. I have zero money, and bank loans or alike are not an option.

What does a poor girl do when she wants to help the poorER, or anything anywhere to help!! (Rebuilding, building schools, helping the poor, anything)

Operation Christmas Child is a volunteer project that gets the whole community involved.  OCC sends thousands of shoebox-filled Christmas gifts to needy kids all over the world.  Here in Ohio, we have an annual box Packing Party.  We get donations of toothpaste, crayons, etc. and then pack 1,500 boxes!  Plus, we are able to get the shipping donated too!  This is such a wonderful project, please check out the website:  http://www.samaritanspurse.org/index.php...

Each box touches the life of one special child!  In Uganda, the average pay is $1 each day.  A box of crayons costs $8!!  And without school supplies, kids cannot go to school.  So sending one box of school supplies to Uganda can enable one entire family to go to school!  And to recieve the ONLY present they will EVER get!

Try partnering with a local church to get started.  Or start by asking local businesses to make donations, then ask a local newspaper to do an article about OCC and what you are trying to do.  I live in a very small, poor area, and we collected over 3,000 boxes in all last year!  And now OCC has a new thing called EZ Give on their website that allows you to know exactly what country your shoebox goes to!!
