Want to work for a magazine but dont know exactly what i want to do...?

making collages

creating things

editing pictures/photoshop

shopping

algebra

im in college...what should i be doing to prepare myself for this field of work?--suggested major?

I hope your a freshman.  You should major in journlism.  Also you said that you like to shop.  You can be a Fashion Stylist, Personal Stylist.  For those you don't really need a degree.  But, you could go to Make up Designory or FIDM in Los Angeles.

Editing if your talking about Fashion?  It's called Fashion Editor.  Making layouts etc.

you could work on layouts or ads

or work as an editor for the way the magazine looks. that would be a sweet job! really fun.
