windows by default has the capability of connecting computers on same network. it depends on what you want to do with connection.

1. you can login/connect to other PC using Remote Desktop connection

2. through a shared resource.. share a drive or folder

3. through VNC. you can login to other PC using VNC.

Yes Windows Enable You to do so but it is so trouble some and slow plus hard to communicate with each other however there is software called vypress chat ,it allows share(send) files and Send Messages around network ,like a yahoo chat room
