  1. Take a look at these links. They may not deal with the adoptive parents but you should look into the emotions of ALL sides of the triad

  2. Don't trust the way things are done.  Check out the ethics of anyone you deal with for a clear conscience and peace of mind.

  3. Some reading for you...

    * "Being Adopted: The Lifelong Search for Self" by Brodzinsky, Schecter, and Henig

    * "Journey of the Adopted Self" by Betty Jean Lifton

    * "The Primal Wound" by Nancy Verrier

  4. I will always recommend adopting from foster care!

  5. educate yourself on all aspects of adoption before venturing into it.

  6. Plenty.

Read blogs by adult adoptees and first moms. Read about the ethics, or lack of ethics. Read about the emotional toll of separation between mother and child before you jump head-first into anything.

  7. The only advice I can give you is to take the time to research your agency well. A good one will help you with the decision process and help you select the program that is best for your family. Be careful about the small but very vocal minority of people who struggled with adoption.

Examine your heart and when you're sure that you're ready for parenthood then take joy in your adoption.
