Question:

Wanting another baby.?

We have a 14 month old baby, and we want to add another child to our family. The problem is my husband owns his own business so we buy health insurance out of pocket. In Colorado they don't cover maternity if you buy insurance like this. My question is has anyone ever been in this situation, and what did you do? Also, does anyone have any suggestions on how to pay for this, or is there maybe a program we don't know about? With my son I got a job while I was pregnant so that it would be covered, but I am very happy staying home and don't want to put him in daycare for 9 months just so we can be covered. Thanks!

  1. I believe that with most Colorado individual health insurance policies it is true that maternity coverage is not part of the basic coverage but you can pay extra to add on a maternity rider that will give this coverage.

Expect to have a waiting period of about 12 months before the maternity coverage will kick in.

Here is some more information on maternity health insurance (even for the self employed) and also some information specifcally on Colorado health insurance:

  2. you could try to obtain as much as resource as you can by search the keyword in search engine,if you have good luck there, then your problem solved.however,if you could not find the answer by doing that, here is the relevant resource i prefered.http://health-insurance.online-tips4u.in...

  3. You should really learn Sports lady.

  4. For God's sake, DO NOT HAVE ANOTHER CHILD

The planet is crawling with people now!   The planet is overburdened, rife with anger and violence, hellbent for destruction, there is no need for more people.

The ones that are on the planet now are a mess, dont do it to a child or the existing population.

  5. You can purchase individual health insurance in Colorado with maternity coverage. There are several companies that offer the coverage but you have to sign up for maternity when you first get the policy; you cannot add it on at a later time. There will be either a waiting period before coverage is effective or there will be reduced benefits at the beginning.

The reason for the waiting period is the insurance company is not going to pay out more for the delivery than it receives in premium. Maternity is a pre-payment plan. It is much more cost effective to save the extra premium in a savings account or an HSA account.

Complications of pregnancy, such as a C-section, are covered even if you don't have maternity coverage on most individual plans.

  6. try medicaid for pregnant mothers it covers you and child during pregnancy and delivery.

  8. Wait like a year or two...thats going to be SO hard!! Once I baby sat like 2 babys and a toddler with my friend and it was so hard!!

If you do I wish you great luck super mom!

  9. There are a couple things you can do, but it doesn't involve insurance.   You can pre-negotiate and prepay a birth in a hospital, at a steep discount.  You can check out a local birthing center, as birthing center births are drastically less expensive than hospital births.  And you can check out the possibility of a homebirth with a midwife.  Both the last two, include all prenatal care.
