What do you need to have to be a nanny for a family? I am just about to change career. I was wondering if I had to work through a agency or get special paperwork for working with the family. I don't know I need some help! Thanks

  1. Well get some babysitting under your belt, age is a factor, get your first aid and CPR certification, take some child development classes at the local community college.

  2. I don't think you need an Early Childhood Education diploma to become a nanny, but definitely some parenting type courses would help. First Aid and CPR would be a must, lots of experience with children would suffice in lieu of the parenting courses. Good references is a plus as well. A nanny agency would be able to tell you their expectations if you decide to go that way.

  3. enhanced crb check, nvq in childcare or another childcare qualifications, you need to be friendly and love children, a driving license is quite a good thing to have but not necessary, and references. findababysitter.com and other sites might be worth a look.
