  1. I have a BA in Social Work as well as a MSW. If you are looking to get any type of paying job in the field, you need at minimum the BA of Social Work. Some schools offer Sociology programs as well, which can also get you a job in the field. To make any real money, you need a Masters. (MSW)

You will have a few internships during your education to work with different populations. I was like yourself and thought that I wanted to work with children. It turned out that I got the most enjoyment from working with mentally challenged young ladies over 21. Don't limit yourself.

You will have general core classes during your first two years of college with a few courses in things such as Child Psychology, Sociology, adolescent Psych, and a few behavioral health classes. The classes in your 3rd and fourth yrs are similar, but just at a higher level and more challenging. You will probably have an internship during your 2nd year and 4th year. Hope this helps. Good luck!
