Question:

Wanting to become an actress..?

I realize that being an actress requires hard work, but I'm willing to do it. I have the desire to do it, though I'm a little shy. But can I get over this fear so that I can do what I want to do? I would eventually like to be on Disney Channel. Any advice or steps to take to get this?

  1. It's always a warning sign when we hear "I want to be an actor" instead of "I want to act," but:

Go to every audition you can find at schools and community theaters.  Be prepared for rejection, but remember it's not because you aren't good enough, it's because you aren't what they're looking for.  Accept even the smallest part, and if they don't offer you anything, volunteer for tech or house work.  Whatever you end up doing, be reliable.  Be prepared to spend a lot of time waiting, unnoticed.

Read a lot - learn about as many things as you possibly can.

And finally, be aware that the average annual income for a professional actor is something like $1,000!

    GOOD LUCK!

  2. start by going to your local drama club maybe at school.don't expect to become an actress over night it only happens to a lucky few.im waiting for my big break.you could ask your to sign you up to an extras agency.thats what i do.also do as many drama workshops as possible.the more experience the better.then gradually build your confidence and experience and then apply for a proper acting agent.age doesn t matter. be careful when on sites like this people will try and offer you parts but it bogus and they could be weirdos

  3. No legitimate casting agent or director would try to recruit talent from Yahoo Answers.  There are plenty of places to recruit talent and public forums is not one of them. Please be very careful and do not give out any personal information, or reply to offers on this board, as it probably comes from a predator.

  4. all real agents are free.

and only get 10-20 % of the money you make doin commercials etc.

if some1 says you ahve to pay them for them to be your agent they their a scam!

and you need to bget experience cause it will look great on your resume example:

    acting classes

    singing classes

    plays(major roles wouild look great)

and go to actinginfo.blogspot.com for auditions hope i helped

    and talentagents.blogspot.com for agents.

  5. Of course you can get over your fear! The first step I would take would be to get acting classes at your local theater. There, they will help you overcome your stage fright and help you build your confidence. Most local theaters put on several plays a year, so I would audition for those. It's very important to take classes at the theater that puts on the plays your auditioning for. (It helps out if you know the staff there!) Then I would audition for your school plays. As a 13 year old I'm guessing your in 8th grade. (The older you are at your school the more likely you are to get a good part). If your reallly interested in being on Disney Channel, then you would have to get an agent. (Agents let you know about audtions for movies, TV shows, Broadway shows etc.) So I would talk to your parents about that. Also theater camps, movie camps, drama camps, or any camps/workshops you can find would be good too. Ask your drama teacher at school or look online. Any other opportunities that come your way in acting, go for it! The first few times you audition for things you probably will not make it in. But DO NOT give up! The more you try, the more experience you have, the better you present yourself, and the harder you work at it and practice, the more likely you are to get where you want to be. Good luck!!!!!!

  6. I'd listen to Marta's answer.

What she's saying is very true.

Theatre workshops, local theatres, extras agencies, etc.

Hope you make it big one day!
