I got a prescription for contact lenses brand Proclear, I got the contacts last week, I wanted to get color but they charge alot so what can I do to get a diffrent brand with the same prescription. Do I have to pay more in order to get a new prescription or can the dr change my prescription brand? I wanted to get durasoft in color because thats the only one with my vision since I have a agstigmatism.

  1. Just for your information also...there are Freshlook Colorblend Toric lenses available also. They are a 2 week disposable for astigmatism.

The Dura soft lenses are almost dinosaurs now.

  2. You must have prescription for each lens you wear.  If you want colors, your doctor will have to provide a prescription.

Very likely he'll charge a nominal fee because he has to fit the new type of lens on your eye and make sure it is compatible for you via a follow-up visit.  If you are still within your initial fitting period, there may not be an extra fee for the new evaluation and follow-up.  Your best bet is to check with the doctor's office to determine their policy regarding this.

  3. Contact lens prescriptions are good for a year. Then you have to get your eyes checked again for contacts. If your prescription is still in the year, call your doctor and tell him what contacts you want to buy. He should be able to determine what size you need of the new brand based on the size you are in the contacts you wear now, even if it changes, he should know what the conversions are. He should write another prescription and you can either buy contacts through him or have him fax you or another contact supplier the new prescription.

  4. U can just change to the other brands. Not a problem at all.
