Wanting to live in italy for only a year..?

Question

This is a dream of mine,which im fine that you laugh at,but in the future i want to live in italy just for a year.

How do you get to live there?student visa?

I was thinking when i get out of college and such...would i need to enroll in a school there to get to live there?

I'm going to study journalism in college...

Your tourist visa will be good for only 3 months.... Enrioll in a school and you best bet may be in Perugia. Also, many American Universities have exchange programs - check those out.

Maybe you could intern with the some international agency or one of the US State Department's offices in Italy.

You need a visa (which you can only get from outside of Italy) to stay in Italy for more than 90 days in any 180 day period.  The best way to do this might be to go to a language school (search on ITALY and LANGUAGE SCHOOLS) and they will help you get the visa you need.   There are large schools in Perugia and Urbino.
