Wanting to start ballet.?

I want to start ballet I have always wanted to. I'm 13 do you think thats an appropriate age to start? I'm going to start in a younger class with younger kids do you think I will be moved up to an older class?

It depends what kind of dance school you plan on attending. If it's really relaxed, they'll probably just move you up with girls your age. But if it's a bit more structured (like mine, the one thing I hate about it!), then they'll probably keep you with girls who are at the same skill level as you for about a year, then after you've improved just a bit, they'll put you with other 13 year olds. May I suggest getting a book on ballet before you start. Even if you know some of the basics, it's great to go in being positive of the positions, or just being flexible and stuff. If you are good at plie's or splits or pirouetts, then they'll see that you're a hard worker with potential (and they'll love that)!!! Good Luck! Just remember, try hard and stay positive!!!!!

most studios have a class for beginning teens and adults. That's most likely what you would be placed in.

any age is apprpiate to start just be confiedent, work hard and I'm sure you'll move up just remember to be graceful and when jumping or leaping always pointe your toes, oh ya you should try tap also it's awesome!

its fine you still ahve pleanty of time to learn just stay commited and you can be just as good as anyone else

Thats weird because this is exactly whats happening to me. Im 13 and im starting ballet in september. I also have to start in a class with younger kids. But its never too late to start ballet! My sister started at 15 and she was extremely commited and now she is on pointe (shes 18 now). But before you start i suggest that you get a little more educated into ballet, do a little research. You can start ballet any time i started at 11 and am loving it. You need to try realllllllllllllly hard if you want to be moved up fast.
