Wanting to take a trip to England. Any suggestions?

I am wanting to take a trip to England before the end of this year ('08) but I need some help. Are there some good vacation packages to look for or special trips that could save me some money. Any information or suggestions would help me out.

ALSO, when I take my trip down there I want to go see a soccer match (English Premier). How would I go about doing that, do I have to order my tickets early in advance; because I know those games sell-out quickly...

Thanks for the help!!!

  1. 1) Where are you from? If you are American or from within the EU, you can visit the UK without a visa. Check with your own embassy to see if you need a visa.

    2) Which football team would you want to see? That will really determine which part of the country you visit, and the prices of amenities/ accommodation. If you want to see Chelsea/ Arsenal/ Tottenham etc then you'll need to be in the London area at least for a day... if you want to see Man Utd then Manchester, or Birmingham for Aston etc. So determine which team you plan on seeing, and which part of England in particular you want to see.

Once you've decided on the team, go on their website and see which match in particular you're aiming for. That way, you can determine which month to come here. If you know anyone in the UK, get them to order your tickets. It'll be far cheaper.

    3) Generally, package holidays to England are incredibly expensive, and aimed to rip off American tourists. I found a website where you can buy Man Utd tickets, but to send to America cost about $200 a ticket, whereas tickets normally cost between £24 and £48 (which is, at most, $100). Be careful of places that try to rip you off.

  2. The UK isnt a big destination for package holidays, it nothing like spain or Turkey etc.  You should be able to find a cheap flight if you book well in advance, not sure where you are coming from but if from the states try zoom airways or if from europe then try easyjet or ryanair for cheap flights.  Depending on where you want to go will make a difference to your costs for hotels....London is expensive and also citys like Edinburgh but you can find cheap enough hotels or b&b's in the counrty side durning the winter months or in cities like Newcastle or Plymouth or Manchester.  All these cities would be good bases for exploing those areas of the country.  At the end of the day any holiday can be cheap if you look hard enough for the deals on the net and booking well in advance.

Hope you get to come to this country in the near future.
