  1. there are two species of "green snake" a rough green snake that can get to be about 26" or a smooth green snake who gets to be about 22".

i am not a snake person, more of a turtle person, but i did find a place to order this type of snake online. right now they are out of stock, but now you have a good place to start price wise and stuff :)

every snake has the capability to bite. however, no snake is poisionous... the correct term is venomous and no, this snake is not venomous.

    cute choice :)

  2. I have one, they make great pets, and are really nice looking snakes...I feed mine crickets and grass hoppers..It has never even tried to bite me and ..No their not venomous.

  4. there is a rough green snake a smooth green snake and a chinese green snake which are not venomous then there is a vine snake which is green but it is rear fanged meaning the fangs are located in the back of the mouth and have to chew to inject venom. here is http://www.aboutsnakes.com/green_snakes/... website about rough green snakes rough green snakes do not like to be handled and you have a great chance on getting bit the best beginner snake would be a cornsnake.

  5. Rough green snakes. I have seen several people here on

Yahoo say they don't make good pets and I never understood why. I have had a few in the past in large vivariums with live plants and I thought they were very cool and easy to care for. Sure, they may be a little frisky and hard to hold, but I've found they can become pretty calm like other pet snakes. And they have great appetites. One of the few insectivore snakes, a few calcium dusted crickets twice a week works great. They don't bite and they look great sitting up in some live plants. And they drink the droplets of water from misting the plants. The one thing to know is that 99% of the rough green snakes on the market, including the ones in Petco, are wild caught so you should always make sure that any you consider buying are alert and look healthy. If you hold it and it's real frisky and trying to escape, that's a much better choice than one that hangs from your hand limp like a spaghetti noodle. Good luck!
