Waqar Wishes To Be Respected As Coach
Waqar Younis, the coach for Pakistan’s national cricket team has expressed his desire to earn respect and to be known as competent in his new role.
While talking to a Pakistani sports channel, the former skipper said, “I want to earn the same respect and adulation as the national coach as I earned as a player while representing the country. I am someone who is trying to give the same commitment and
responsibility to the team as coach like I did as player.”
Waqar, who had replaced Intikhab Alam and had taken the responsibilities as the head coach of the team after its dismal tour of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746, expressed his confidence in the capability of the present combination for winning the World Cup 2011. He also regarded

Expressing his desires for the success of the team, the former fast bowler said: “There is talk about the team being without some of its leading and senior players and how it will impact out performance in the World Cup. People forget that when Imran Khan
led http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 to the 1992 World Cup, young players in that team played a pivotal role in the success and went on to become star performers for Pakistan.”
Talking about his role for the players, the coach was of the view that he had been trying his best to provide exposure and perfect conditions to the youngsters as well as to those who had a desire to join international cricket.
Waqar expressed his belief in young talent, and stated that he was to help them by all means to get them adjusted into the team. He was of the view that whatever experience he had earned so far must be transferred to the young players who were now in a better
position to take benefit from it.
He accepted that just like other human beings, he too was prone to mistakes, however, he said, at the end of the day what was important was the commitment to the job. The rewards were there to be given by the God.
The former Test skipper told the reporter that currently the biggest challenge for him was to ensure that there were not many fitness issues as the World Cup was just around the corner, the team could not afford to have it.
