Waqar Younis – a great fast bowler of his age
He was fast and dangerous. His ability to swing the ball both ways viciously makes him different from the rest of the bowlers of his era. Widely regarded as the best swing bowler of all time, Waqar Younis is arguably one the greatest fast bowlers ever seen
by the world of cricket.
He captained Pakistan but the cricket fans love him for his ability to reverse swing the cricket ball at a very high speed. Waqar is widely regarded as the best example of swing bowling – his out-swingers with the red cherry and in-swinging yorkers with
the old ball were good enough to trouble even the best in the trade.
He holds the record of best strike rate for any bowler with 200 Test wickets and he grabbed fastest 400 wickets in the 50-over format of the game.
The former http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SR-Tendulkar-c2556 started off his international
career.
Waqar was never worried about the track, as he was too good in swinging the ball in the air. He also set the trend of pitching fast and full rather going for fast and short.
His strategy to aim for the stumps helped him pick up a lot of wickets in both versions of the sport.

Waqar was the given the responsibility to lead the side on the tour to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 in 2011. The cricket pundits termed it as inspiring move when the side achieved good results initially but the problems started increasing when under his captaincy, Pakistan collapsed
on 59 and 53 in the same Test match against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 in Sharjah.
However, he managed to keep his position for the World Cup 2003. In the showpiece event, the Cornered Tigers displayed a disastrous show, defeating only Holland and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Namibia-c2964.
Unsuccessful to make his way back to the side after the tournament, Waqar decided to call it a day and said good bye to international cricket in April 2004.
In 87 Tests, he nabbed 373 wickets at an average of 23.56. His ODI records are even more impressive, as he has 416 dismissals to his credit in just 262 games – the second highest wicket-taker for Pakistan after Wasim.
The legend was appointed as the head coach of Pakistan team in March 2010. During his stint, the Green Shirts produced excellent results and reached the semi-final class of World Cup 2011 first time.
However, Waqar resigned from the post due to personal and health issues. Commenting on his coaching tenure with the Men in Green, the Ex team manager, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Intikhab-Alam-c64380 said, “He did a good job. It’s a demanding job and Waqar handled it well.”
The former leg-spinner http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Abdul-Qadir-c41605 also hailed Waqar’s devotion and hard work for the country. He shared, “I know Waqar as a sincere and hard working person. He has given huge services to Pakistan as a cricketer and coach.”
At the moment, Waqar is enjoying his job in the commentary box. Even though, he does not have any immediate plans to resume his coaching career, he may return to the field as http://www.senore.com/Cricket/A-Mentor-c41238 after a while.
