Waqar Younis asks PCB for other options if Miandad not ready
Pakistani coach, Waqar Younis, does not seem satisfied by the way Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has been approaching http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Javed-Miandad-c66580 to take the responsibilities of a batting coach, while the master batsman is not willing to take charge.
Waqar was speaking to the press at the end of the training camp for the Caribbean tour at Gaddafi Stadium.
He said; "Why do we keep going round and round about the same thing? Javed bhai was also offered this position last year and now again. But if he can't do it because of lack of time or for any other reason, then we should look at other options".
Last week, the former legendary batsman, declined PCB’s batting coach position before the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 tour. According to him there was not enough time available to do some special training before the series. Miandad hinted at his availability to help the
Pakistani team later.
Miandad, who had played 124 Tests and 233 ODIs for Pakistan was not comfortable to interrupt head coach, Waqar Younis.
"Waqar (Younis) would be having his own plans and it doesn't look good to jump in meanwhile. So joining the team at such a time wouldn't do any good for the team", he said.
Furthermore, Miandad thinks it is not possible to change the batting technique and style of a batsman when he starts playing at international level.
Pakistan’s team had shown weak batting displays during the ICC World Cup 2011, as batsmen ruined the efforts of terrific bowling many times.
After their numerous batting failures, a number of ex-cricketers started demanding PCB hire a batting coach to improve the batting skills of the team.
Legendary fast bowler, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Wasim-Akram-c96292, also supported the idea to appoint a batting coach, as he thinks most of the teams around the world have a batting coach to improve batting.
Akram said:
"I agree the team needs a batting coach. Every team now has a full-time specialist batting coach with them and I have always believed that even at this level, the best players sometimes need to be given guidance and tips on batting issues".
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755’s current coach is happy with his efforts to improve the performance of team Pakistan.
Waqar added:
"I don't say much but if anyone wants to access my performance as coach I think they can look at the results of the team in the last 12-13 months. The results speak for themselves. My job is to get the best out of the players and that is what I am doing”.
