Waqar Younis banking on a win over Australia to boost morale
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746, as it could have an immense impact on the morale of the team. The Green Shirts will take on the Kangaroos on Saturday in probably the most important
tie of group A in the ICC World Cup 2011 at R. Premadasa, Colombo. A win against Australia will mean that the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Green-c60723 Shirts end at the top spot in their pool and will take on the weaker team of the other group in the quarter-final.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shahid-Afridi-c2482 and company started this tournament as the under-dogs and majority of the cricket analysts were not giving them much of a chance before the event started. Although the Pakistan team have displayed a mix sort of a performance, in the mega event,
but they have still rung the alarm bells amongst the hot favourites of the World Cup.
Younis feels that a victory over Australia could enhance Pakistan’s chances of becoming the World Champions, as it is going to boost the confidence of the team and Pakistan is a squad which does rely on their morale and team spirit. If the Green Shirts play
as a unit, they can beat any team in the world which they have proved many times in past. Pakistan will gain a huge advantage if they are able to beat Australia because then it will be likely that the Men in Green will finish at the number one spot in their
pool, which means that they will take on the weaker team of the other group.
In Pakistan coach’s opinion, the Green Shirts will not find it hard to beat any team if they come out triumphant against the Aussies. The legendary fast bowler said, "Right now we are thinking of only Australia. If you win that game, then your morale will
be such that you won't worry about any team you play. You have an option [whereby] you could play the No. 4 team [from the other group] whose morale will be down."
Former Pakistan captain said that momentum is one of the most important aspects in a big tournament like the World Cup, but it is not going to be easy for Pakistan to beat Australia as they have been undefeated since 1999 when Pakistan defeated the Aussies
in a pool match at Headingly. After that match, Australia has won 33 matches on the trot in World Cup cricket.
"But momentum is very important and necessary. Australia are such a big team, world champions, and they haven't lost for ages. That is an opportunity. If you beat them, you leave a mark. You can look at the next matches and teams will think twice about playing
against you. The bigger thing is the momentum of beating the world champions and the confidence it gives you. That game is important," Pakistan’s coach added.
If Pakistan’s top order fire against Australia, then there is no reason why the Green Shirts cannot give a tough time to Ricky Ponting and company. It will be a huge win as it will also end Australia’s run of successive victories in the mega event.
