Waqar Younis excited about Indo-Pak cricket series – Cricket News Update
Excited about the upcoming series between Pakistan and India, the former captain/coach, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Waqar-Younis-Maitla-c96193, hopes that everything goes ahead smoothly, claiming that there is nothing like the battle between the arch-rivals.
The neighbouring countries have not played any bilateral series since the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Delhi-c780 and Islamabad.
The situation however, after almost five years, has started to improve, with the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 in October. On top of that, the Board of Control for
Cricket in India (BCCI) announced a limited-overs series with Pakistan in December, comprising of three ODIs and two T20 Internationals.
Like most of the cricket fans all around the world, the former Pakistan captain is delighted with the news and prays that things move forward smoothly, so that the series is played as scheduled.
While talking to Pakpassion, the former great expressed that India should also visit Pakistan in future, to help international cricket return to the neighbouring country.
"I hope the series happens. The schedule has been announced and it’s very important for Pakistan to go to India and then hopefully the Indians will at some point in the future come to Pakistan to play cricket," Waqar expressed. "It’s
a very important series for Pakistan and the PCB, because if the Indians come and play in Pakistan then I think other countries may follow suit."
The 40-year-old, who has more than 750 scalps at the ultimate level of the game, and formed one the most deadly bowling pairs of the game’s history with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Wasim-Akram-c96292, feels that playing against India was always special for him.
"There’s not an inch given when the two teams clash and it is cricket at it’s best. I feel there’s nothing quite like a cricket match between http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 and Pakistan," the former captain said.
Waqar coached the Green Shirts for almost two years from the beginning of 2010 till the end of 2011, playing a massive role in reviving http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 cricket’s glory after the spot-fixing saga in 2010.
