Coach of the Pakistan cricket team, Waqar Younis, is worried about the leadership future of the Green Shirts as he thinks that the current captain, Misbah ul Haq, is getting old for playing International cricket.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Green-c60723 Shirts a chance.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sahibzada-Mohammad-Shahid-Khan-Afridi-c87933 led Pakistan in the all-important event but he was removed from captaincy after the Caribbean tour, when he violated the code of conduct of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ijaz-Butt-c64128, has clearly stated in a recent television interview that Afridi does not have a captaincy future in his regime.
It leaves Pakistan in an awkward situation as Misbah will be in his 40s during the next World Cup, which is scheduled to be held in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 in 2015.
Waqar was all praise for Misbah, who has been doing exceedingly well in all formats of the game, as a captain as well as a batsman.
Pakistan coach said, “I have to give full credit to Misbah, as he has stabilised the team and leads from the front. His performance is also outstanding. He makes the boys feel comfortable and relaxed, so they actually enjoy their cricket. He is mature and
willing to listen.”
Till the mid of 2010, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Salman-Butt-c2418 was considered as the future captain of Pakistan in all the formats of the game but unfortunately for the Green Shirts, he has been banned for 10 years from all forms of the game as a result of the spot-fixing controversy.
Although, Waqar admires the performances of Misbah, he said that he is going to advise PCB to look for a younger option for leadership, who can serve Pakistan in the years to come.
"The only unfortunate thing is the age factor, which is not in Misbah's favour. On that account, I don't think he would be able to lead the side in the next World Cup (2015), and therefore, I would advise that we should start grooming a young captain from
now," he added.
