Waqar Younis not worried about team’s performance
Although Pakistan started with a miserable performance in their practice match against Auckland, the coach of the team Waqar Younis is not worried at all about the performance of the team.
Pakistan were all out for a miserable 91 runs and the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Auckland-c766 team won the match comfortably with five wickets and more than six overs to spare. Waqar feels that since this was the first match for Pakistan and they weren't used to the conditions, the defeat
didn't bother him too much.
Talking about the performance of Pakistan, Waqar said, “It wasn't the ideal start but that happens sometimes when you've just arrived in the country and you don't really know much about the pitch conditions, I'm not really worried about it.”
The http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 team has always struggled in the bouncy conditions in New Zealand and the batsmen are not in good form as per their recent records. There have been some controversies with the team as well which have hurt the morale of the team.
Waqar further added, “The batting had been undergoing a good deal of work but the batsmen failed to click in the game and no-one had taken responsibility to anchor the effort.”
Former captain and legendary batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Javed-Miandad-c66580 was invited to the training camp in Pakistan where he assisted the team with some useful batting tips. He denied to tour with the team saying that he doesn’t want to interfere in Waqar’s job.
Waqar admitted that his team started badly today but he said that the team has taken this seriously and the players have discussed the problems with the coaching staff. He is hopeful that the team will go out and perform way better then they did in today’s
match.
Waqar said that the team will learn from their mistakes. He commented, “I think they've learned the lesson and hopefully in the next game it will be a different ball game. We have done badly today, and we have spoken about it. We have to work hard over the
next couple of days so we don't repeat this type of performance.”
Pakistan will play their first Twenty20 match against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 on the Boxing Day on 26th December.
