Pakistan coach and former pace bowler Waqar Younis has praised the Test skipper Misbah-ul-Haq for his great leadership skills and wits in the two-match Test series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 which the tourists won 1-0.

Speaking to the reporters Waqar said, “The team has suffered a lot in the past few days and the Test-series victory, after such a long time, has come as a huge boost. All the players showed responsibility and their positive body language designed the victory.”
The former reverse-swing sensation also praised the Test skipper Misbah-ul-Haq for leading the team to its victory. “He performed both as a captain and batsman for which he deserves all praise. I am inspired with his decision making during the series,” he
said.
In fact, there are reports that it is not just Waqar who has been dearly impressed by Misbah, it is the Pakistan Cricket Board as well. The PCB is even considering appointing Misbah as the skipper in place of current captain http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shahid-Afridi-c2482 for February’s
World Cup in the sub-continent.
On Tuesday, the PCB selection committee announced the 15-memeber squad without naming the captain. According to insiders, the Board wants to wait until the end of the six-match One Day International series in New Zealand to name the skipper. Afridi’s performance
in the series would be surely under the scanner.
Waqar believed that the Test series win has boosted the confidence of the players and now Pakistan would be in a better frame of mind to prepare for the World Cup. “Now our performance in the upcoming ODI series will set our tone for the World Cup,” he said.
Pakistan cricket has suffered greatly due to the spot-fixing scandal recently involving three key players, Salman Butt, Mohammad Amir and Mohammad Asif.
The trio is currently suspended from playing international cricket and awaiting the verdict of their trial which would be made public on the 5 February, 2011. Then there was the case of former wicketkeeper Zulqarnain Haider, who deserted his team which was

These two incidents caused great embarrassment for Pakistan cricket and now this series victory has helped Pakistan redeem its lost pride in the world of cricket to some extent.
