Waqar Younis sees Pakistan series win as good omen
Pakistan cricket team coach Waqar Younis is relieved after the ODI series win against New Zealand.
The men in green successfully defended 268 runs total as they shot out the hosts for 227 runs, getting an unassailable 3-1 lead with one match to be played at the Eden Park in Auckland.
Thrashed by nine wickets in the first match, they reeled off three wins in a row to beat the hosts who continued to disappoint in the format having lost 14 out of their last 15 matches since their last year tour of Sri Lanka.
Waqar was chuffed with the approach of his team which never relinquished their grip on the match despite certain passages of New Zealand’s domination.
"It was a professional approach by the Pakistanis in the entire game, not only just the batting and bowling. In the field, we were pretty sharp, we held our catches, we broke the partnerships," Waqar said after the match.
Meanwhile, the win has ended Pakistan’s barren run in the ODI format, they had performed poorly during last three years having struggled in eighth bi-lateral series and twelfth one-day trophy since they recorded their last series win. Waqar
has seen his team blow up some good opportunities of winning recently including the five-match series against England and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757.

Waqar stated that his team was elated with the win and it means a great deal to them ahead of the World Cup which is a mere 16 days away.
He added the last year was not a good one, yet the team fought and was on the verge of wins in many matches, especially in the Asia Cup where they lost to Sri Lanka and India by narrow margins.
"It's been a while. We've come very close to winning series and the Asia Cup recently. We played good cricket but unfortunately we didn't win anything and that's why, the boys were excited."
Though Pakistan lost the three matches T20 series 2-1, they roared off to a massive win in the last game at Christchurch.
The win at the AMI Stadium spurred them on as they ended winning the two matches Test series 1-0 under http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Misbah-ul-Haq-c1972. The form carried over to the ODI series, and Waqar hopes that the team would win the series 4-1 by pocketing the final

Pakistan is likely to give its reserve players a run in the last match, the interesting thing is that the two specialist spinners in the squad Abdul Rehman and Saeed Ajmal have played just one game between them in the ODI format.
The team management should consider giving them a run before the World Cup where they are bound to have a bigger role considering the nature of the wickets in the three World Cup host countries.
