War Artist to finally land a victory in the Al Quoz Sprint Sponsored By Emirates NBD at Meydan on 31st March, 2012.
Meydan will be packed on 31st March, 2012 to witness some of the most exciting races of the year including the 5 furlong Al Quoz Sprint Sponsored By Emirates NBD. The 16 runners in this race will be competing for a purse of
£387,097.
The Al Quoz Sprint is one of the most anxiously awaited races of the day. Last year, it was conquered by South African runner JJ The Jet Plan, who ran under jockey Bernard Fayd’herbe for trainer by Lucky Houdalakis.
Owned by DuPreez, Strydom, Houdalakis, and Boyens, JJ The Jet Plan dominated the race with a narrow victory ahead of War Artist, who finished as a runner-up and Better Be The One, finished third.
Regally Ready has a chance of landing a solid finish in this race. Trained by Steven Asmussen for owners the Vinery Stables, things are definitely looking up in his favour. Mounted by jockey C. Nakatani, he entered the Grade 3 Daytona Stakes at Santa
Anita Park with odds of 7 to 5, as a favourite on 9th January, 2012. He finished in third place in a dead heat with Mr. Gruff.
He entered the Meydan Sprint Sponsored By Emirates Sky Cargo (Conditions Race) as a favourite, this time with odds of 7 to 2, but finished 13th in a field of 15 runners. Paired with Frankie Dettori, he chased the leader throughout,
but showed signs of exhaustion towards the end.
Asmussen’s impeccable reputation as a trainer is giving the son of More Than Ready, out of mare Kivi, market popularity. He has an opportunity for redemption today, and score for his connections. This time, he is determined to take the chance and make
a name for himself.
War Artist, the son of Orpen, out of Royal Solitaire, has a chance of succeeding this time around. After he finished as a runner-up last year and lost the victory by a head to JJ The Jet Plane, the nine-year-old gelding is more motivated.
Trained by M.F. De Kock, he has been going through comprehensive workouts in order to overcome any obstacles. The narrow finish as a runner-up was less to be learned from. Today, War Artist will seal the deal and own the sprint.
Despite his seventh place finish in the Meydan Print Sponsored By Emirates Sky Cargo at Meydan on 10th March, 2012, the Rupert Plersch owned runner will bring everything he has to the track, more determined to leave a lasting
impact this year. Coupled with jockey K. Shea, he will race with all his might and determination.
The Edward Lynam trained five-year-old gelding, Sole Power, will bring all his fervour and enthusiasm to the track today. The son of Kyllachy, out of mare Demerger, impressed his connections and spectators with a finish as a runner-up in the Meydan
Sprint Sponsored By Emirates Sky Cargo at Meydan on 10thMarch, 2012. Ridden by jockey J. Murtagh, he fell a short-head behind, Invincible Ash, who landed the victory.
Owned by Mrs. S. Power, the gelding will be aiming to make her proud. His second start at Meydan is looking to be more impressive than the first one.
Regally Ready is looking to bag this race, but War Artist will definitely try to triumph this time around. He is ready for the majestic finish in first place, leaving rest of the competitors behind.
