“War of Words” starts between Javed Miandad and Waqar Younis
Pakistan Cricket Board, famous for making the news for altercations within the management, is facing a new war of words these days with PCB Director General http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Javed-Miandad-c66580 and the national coach Waqar Younis, being the leading characters of the story.
The latest episode began after the PCB offered Miandad, job of batting and fielding consultant of the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 these days, added fuel to the fire when he thought it necessary to clear the DG PCB that he,(Younis) would remain in charge and Miandad, if ever joined the team, would be given a restricted role. The head coach’s statement made Miandad furious as he hit back today ,warning Younis to be careful in his word choice ,stating that he can “get a showcause notice issued to him”, for making such statements. The Director General of PCB articulated,
"I think Waqar should realize my stature as a player and director general of cricket in the PCB before making any such comments. He should also realize that we are both employees of the Board and not allowed to make such statements against each other. I can easily enough get a showcause notice issued to him for his remarks,"
Miandad had not mentioned the actual reason behind, turning down the PCB offer earlier and had only said that he cannot tour http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ijaz-Butt-c64128, Chairman PCB, he had mentioned that he could not work under the supervision of a junior player.
Miandad said,
"I am not going to be answerable to Waqar as far as my work is concerned. I am only answerable to the Board Chairman and I can't work under such restrictions."
